The National Olympic Committee of Cape Verde (COC) has increased its number of National Federations (NFs) to 19, with the addition of those for fencing and adapted sports.

The decision to add the two NFs, both of which were established in 2019, follows the COC General Assembly.

Also approved at the General Assembly was the activity plan and budget for 2020.

The activity plan includes various events, such as the General Assembly of the Association of the Portuguese Speaking Olympic Committees, the celebration of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, Olympic Day, and the presentation of Cape Verde's delegation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Various training programmes for sports agents and promising young athletes are also in the pipeline.

The next COC General Assembly is scheduled for March 31, 2020.

Cape Verde is set to make a seventh appearance at the Summer Olympics this year, stretching back to its debut at Atlanta 1996.

At Rio 2016, the country was represented by five athletes in four sports.
