Olympic silver medallist Max Parrot of Canada secured his first Snowboard World Cup victory since returning to action after beating cancer, triumphing in the men's big air event in Beijing.

Parrot scored a total of 186.00 points after his routines were rewarded with 92.75 and 93.25 points at the Shougang venue, set to host big air competitions at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in the Chinese capital.

The 25-year-old Canadian - who won the big air title at the Winter X Games Europe two months after receiving the all-clear following his diagnosis for Hodgkin lymphoma last December - beat Sven Thorgen of Sweden by one point.

Thorgen amassed a combined total of 185.00 points, 3.75 in front of bronze medallist Chris Corning of the United States.

Victory handed Parrot, who earned slopestyle silver at last year's Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, his first win of the new season.

In the women's event, Miyabi Onitsuka of Japan topped the standings with a superb performance.

The former slopestyle world champion scored 165.00 across her two runs to edge out Olympic gold medallist Anna Gasser of Austria.

Gasser was forced to settle for second place after ending the competition seven points adrift of Onitsuka.

The bronze medal was claimed by Laurie Blouin of Canada on 155.75 points.
