EF Education First has become the first official exclusive supplier of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

The company will serve as the languages training partner of the Games in China's capital.

A ceremony at Beijing 2022's headquarters was attended by Han Zirong, the vice president and secretary general of the Games, who presented a certificate to EF.

Yan Cheng, the director general of Beijing 2022's human resources department, was also present alongside EF China's chief executive Jacob Toren.

EF is well known in the Olympic Movement having previously struck deals with Seoul 1988, Beijing 2008, Rio 2016, Pyeongchang 2018 and Tokyo 2020.

"EF's long history in China and rich experience in providing language services at previous Olympic Games gives us confidence that EF will be a great partner to support our language training efforts for Beijing 2022," said Yan.

"Beijing 2022 and EF will jointly work out training plans, and organise a range of tailored and practical programmes, for our paid staff, national technical officials and volunteers to help them adopt a global view and enhance their language abilities."

In December it was revealed that Beijing organisers were hoping to remove signs in the capital in poorly translated English.

"As the Games return to China, EF is honoured to work with the Beijing Organising Committee again," said Toren.

"EF's mission of opening the world through education is fully aligned with the Olympic Movement's promotion of international cooperation and cultural exchange.

"We are excited to continue building a legacy of language learning in China."

According to Beijing 2022, the language learning will take place in line with the International Olympic Committee's Agenda 2020, with focus on legacy and sustainability.
