The official balls to be used for wheelchair basketball at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games have been unveiled.

As confirmed by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) and Molten, they will be the B7G4500 and B6G4500.

Molten, who are a global partner of both the IWBF and International Basketball Federation (FIBA), have recently released the new models of ball which, as well as the game ball for Tokyo 2020, will become the official ball of IWBF.

The new model debuted at this year's FIBA World Cup in China and is the successor to the GG7X and GG6X model, which has been IWBF's official ball for the past three years.

The B7G4500 and B6G4500 are made from a premium composite leather, with the main difference from the previous models being the surface texture, which is a pebble pattern offering a less slippery and improved grip performance.

The new models will become available in most countries early next year.

Molten was named as the global partner and official ball partner of the IWBF in April 2018.

As the official game ball, Molten initially supplied its GG7X and GG6X for all world competitions, as well as the zonal qualifying tournaments directly leading up to them, beginning with the 2018 World Championships in Hamburg.
