Eighteen-year-old American Brian Moggre claimed the second International Equestrian Federation Jumping World Cup victory of his career on home ground in Lexington.

The teenager became the youngest-ever winner of the event in Kentucky after winning an eight rider jump-off on board MTM Vivre le Reve.

He went double clear and clocked the quickest jump-off time of 34.22sec at Lexington Horse Park.

Moggre only began competing at World Cup level this year and earned his first victory on the circuit in Ocala at the end of last season.

"That horse is really special to me," he said.

"He's really taken me through the ranks.

"He was really on his game today, and luckily I was on mine."

Four riders in the jump-off went clear again with Japan's Karen Polle, riding Kino, finishing second in 34.44.

Ireland's David Blake ended third, clocking a time of 36.87 on board Keoki.

Brazil's Rodrigo Pessoa, the individual jumping Olympic champion from Athens 2004, also contested the jump-off but ended sixth after collecting four penalties.

Moggre has now moved up to second in the North American League Eastern Sub-League standings, on 41 points.

Fellow American Elizabeth Madden leads the way on 48.

Riders around the world are bidding to qualify for April's World Cup Finals in Las Vegas.

The North American League season will continue next weekend, with competitions in Thermal and Toronto on November 9.
