China’s Lin Gaoyuan earned a thrilling win over Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov to reach the last four of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Swedish Open in Stockholm.

Ovtcharov made the brighter start in the quarter-final match at the ITTF World Tour event at Eriksdalshallen by winning the opening game 11-4.

He soon found himself behind as Lin claimed the next two games by a score of 11-7 before Ovtcharov immediately drew level.

The pair traded the next two games to see the match head into a decider.

Lin dominated proceedings in the final game to earn a 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 8-11, 11-2, 11-13, 11-4 victory.

An all-Chinese semi-final line-up was confirmed in the men’s singles when three-time defending champion Fan Zhendong overcame France’s Simon Gauzy.

Fan triumphed 11-8, 11-8, 11-9, 11-9 to set up a semi-final against Lin.

Liang Jingkun triumphed 4-2 against Xu Xin in the first of the all-Chinese quarter-final matches before Wang Chuqin triumphed in straight games against Zhao Zihao.

Ling and Wang are now set to meet in the semi-finals tomorrow before the medal matches take place.

Mima Ito is the only player from outside China in the singles semi-finals, after the Japanese star overcame Wang Manyu today.

She claimed a 11-8, 4-11, 11-9, 11-6, 11-4 defeat the Chinese player.

Ito is now scheduled to face Sun Yingsha, who beat Ding Ning 11-9, 11-7, 13-11, 11-7 in an all-Chinese affair.

Chen Meng had won the first of the all-Chinese clashes when she beat Liu Shiwen 11-7, 10-12, 4-11, 11-8, 11-5, 18-16.

Her reward is a semi-final match with Liu Fei, who overcame team-mate Qian Tianyi 11-5, 7-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-5.
