Jamaica moved closer to topping their qualifying group at the Confederation of North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship.

The Jamaican team, who competed at a maiden FIFA Women’s World Cup earlier this year, earned a second victory in Group B of the Caribbean qualifiers.

They proved too strong for Barbados at the National Stadium in Kingston, earning a comfortable 7-0 victory.

Jamaica were joined at the top of the Group B standings by Cuba, 6-0 winners against the US Virgin Islands today.

Both teams have won two matches at the qualifier to date, however Jamaica have played on game less than Cuba.

Dominican Republic moved into first place in Group A after earning a 2-0 win over Antigua and Barbuda at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

They have now won two and drawn one of their fixtures, but have played a game more than hosts Trinidad and Tobago, who have won their opening two matches.

Saint Kitts and Nevis lie third in the group standings after recording a 6-1 win over Aruba today.

The Central American qualification process also began today, with the hosts of the two groups beginning with victories.

Costa Rica claimed a 2-0 win over Nicaragua in Group A in front of a home crowd at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Sato.

Competition is due to continue on Sunday (October 6) when Nicaragua face El Salvador.

Panama cruised to a 3-0 win over Honduras in Group B at the Estadio Rommel Fernandez.

The result leaves Honduras needing to bounce back when they face Guatemala at the same venue in two days’ time.

The winners of each of the qualifying groups will advance to the CONCACAF's Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship, with the dates and location for the finals still to be confirmed.

Canada, Mexico and the United States have already qualified for the finals.
