A general secretaries seminar for sports federations was held by the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) to ensure good governance.

The seminar in the country's capital, Lusaka, worked as a platform for the bodies to share knowledge and advice on governance documents.

During the events opening welcome, NOCZ President Alfred Foloko promised engagements such as the seminar would be held at various times with stakeholders in a bid to change how sports are managed in the country.

He said it was also a way for its affiliates to acknowledge athletes as a priority in the operations of a national governing body.

Representatives from the Football Association of Zambia, Zambia Martial Arts Federation, Zambia Amateur Athletics Association and Zambia Tennis Association were all present at the seminar at Lusaka's Radisson Blu Hotel.

Also present were delegates from Zambia Weightlifting Federation, Zambia Boxing Federation, Zambia Rugby Union, Zambia Hockey Association, Zambia Judo Association, Netball Association of Zambia, Handball Association of Zambia and Zambia Basketball Association.

Speakers at the seminar included NOCZ secretary general Boniface Kambikambi, NOCZ executive director Brenda Chipande and NOCZ programme officer Chipo Mulenga-Mainda.

Foster Hamuyube, head of research and planning for NOCZ's Human Rights Commission, led a talk on NOCZ strategic plans, the Olympic Solidarity programmes and multi-sport management.
