United States and England advanced to the semi-finals of the World Lacrosse Men's Indoor World Championship in British Columbia.

The US, who have won bronze at all four editions of the tournament, eased past the Czech Republic 17-3 at Langley Events Centre.

England booked their place after a tight 9-7 victory against Israel.

The win turned the tables after Israel triumphed in the meeting between the two sides in the group stage, 8-7 following overtime.

That result meant England had finished bottom of the elite blue group and had to negotiate an extra playoff match against Finland yesterday.

Israel advanced straight into today's quarter-finals, along with the US, but have lost the match which mattered.

Tomorrow's semi-finals are due to see England take on hosts Canada with the US meeting Iroquois Nationals.

Canada have won all four Championships held after beating the side representing the Native American confederacy.

They both advanced straight into the semi-finals after ending first and second in the blue group respectively.
