The Dutch Floorball Foundation (DFF) has been established to help develop the sport in the Netherlands.

The DFF, which was officially formed earlier this month, will aim to raise funds for the Dutch national team through business partnerships and sponsorship deals, and organise the hosting of tournaments.

It will also organise events and clinics to help establish the sport in a nation where the similar discipline of hockey is hugely popular.

The DFF said it will have a particular focus on the women's team in order to help the female sport grow in the country.

The Dutch team is aiming to reach the 2021 World Floorball Championships having missed out on this year's event, due to be held in Switzerland in December.

"Our aim is to support the Dutch national teams financially, taking away a barrier for players to join the teams," said DFF board member Alexander Kneepkens.

"However, we will ask the teams to give clinics and work with us to spread the sport in the country."

The DFF is looking to organise a four-team friendly women's tournament in April 2020 on home soil as their first major event and are looking ahead to possibly hosting a World Championship in the future.

"We are working hard towards a professional tournament as a test and proof that such a competition can be a big success in the Netherlands," DFF board member Jeroen Muller said.
