The 2019 World Archery 3D Championships are due to begin tomorrow, marking the first of six days of action in Lac la Biche in Canada.

Competition, scheduled to conclude on Saturday (September 7), will be held in compound, barebow, longbow and instinctive bow for both men and women.

Lac la Biche was awarded the hosting rights to the World Archery 3D Championships in December 2015.

It followed a meeting of the World Archery Executive Board in Istanbul.

3D archery is a subset of field archery, focusing on shooting at life-size models of game, and is popular with hunters.

It is most common to see unmarked distances in 3D archery, as the goal is to accurately recreate a hunting environment for competition.

The 2017 World Archery 3D Championships were held in Robion in France.

Italian city Terni, meanwhile, is set to stage the 2021 edition.
