The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Men’s European Championship Division A is set to begin in Polish city Wałbrzych, with four spots at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics on offer.

The top-12 teams on the continent have been split into two groups for the event, which concludes on September 8.

Reigning world champions Great Britain headline Group A, with their challenge coming from Austria, 2017 European bronze medallists Germany, Italy, hosts Poland and Switzerland.

Turkey, who defeated Britain in the final of the last edition of the IWBF Men's European Championship Division A in 2017, are considered the team to beat in Group B.

They are joined by France, Israel, The Netherlands, Russia and Rio 2016 Paralympic silver medallists Spain.

Group stage action is scheduled to run through to September 4, prior to a rest day on September 5.

The quarter-finals are set for September 6, before the semi-finals on September 7 and medal matches on September 8.

The top four teams will qualify for next year’s Paralympics in Tokyo.

Japan have already secured their place in the tournament as hosts.

Three other qualifiers will come from the Americas and Asia/Oceania, while the one other will come from Africa.
