Colombians were in fine form again as the country qualified for the semi-finals of the trios event in first place at the World Bowling Women's Championship in Las Vegas.

The line-up of Clara Guerrero, Juliana Franco and Maria Rodriguez recorded a total of 4,113 points at the South Point Bowling Plaza in the American entertainment city.

Guerrero rolled a huge 275 last-up to contribute 1,395 points and an average of 232.5 from her six games.

Rodriguez and Franco added 1,389 and 1,329 respectively as Colombia continued their good performances from the doubles qualifying yesterday.

That saw Rodriguez and Rocio Restrepo lead the semi-final qualifiers while Guerrero and Franco also made the last four in third place.

"Today was a great day for Colombia," said coach and team manager David Rivera.

"Clara was amazing in the last game, and we are very proud of Maria and Juliana too.

"They are all great at making the adjustments.

"It was a very good day for us."

The Mexican line-up of Adriana Perez, Paola Limon and Sandra Gongora qualified for the semi-finals in second spot with 4,010 points.

Hosts United States will also feature in the last four as Missy Parkin, Jordan Richard and Liz Kuhlkin registered 3,978 for third place.

South Korea, featuring Kim Moonjeong, Baek Sungja and Jung Dawun, clinched the last knock-out spot by ending on 3,962.

It meant their compatriots, top singles qualifier Lee Na-young and doubles semi-finalists Hyerin Son and Yeongi Lee, failed to go through.

The semi-finals will now see Colombia take on the Koreans, with the Mexicans meeting the US.

Both of the last four contests and the final will take place on Thursday (August 29).

Qualification in the team event will take place tomorrow in Las Vegas.

The all-event title will also be awarded to the bowler with the highest total score from all the qualifying events.
