South Korean qualifiers Cho Dae-seong and Shin Yubin secured their first International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Tour title, winning the mixed doubles at the Czech Open in Olomouc.

The unfancied South Korean pair claimed a thrilling 6-11, 15-13, 12-10, 16-18, 12-10 victory over Japan's Jun Mizutani and Mima Ito in the final at OMEGA Sports and Health Center.

The triumph gave Cho and Shin their maiden ITTF World Tour crown as a team.

"The final was very difficult," said Cho.

"Mizutani and Ito are very strong opponents. 

"But in the end, we played really well - we saved match point, and we won."

In the men's singles draw, third seed Timo Boll booked his place in the semi-finals with a battling seven-game win over South Korea's Lee Sang-su.

The German was 3-1 down but rallied to clinch a dramatic 6-11, 9-11, 15-13, 12-14, 11-9, 12-10, 11-8 triumph.

Boll will face Chinese Taipei's Lin Yun-Ju, who defeated Japanese qualifier Yuki Hirano 11-1, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 in his semi-final.

Fourth seed and four-time Olympic medallist Dimitrij Ovtcharov is also through after he beat German team-mate Patrick Franziska 11-6, 13-11, 11-7, 12-10.

Top seed Kasumi Ishikawa of Japan progressed to the women's singles semi-finals with an 11-9, 11-6, 11-6, 7-11, 11-9 victory over He Zhuojia of China. 

Ishikawa will take on compatriot Miu Hirano, who edged out China's Liu Weishan 8-11, 7-11, 10-12, 11-8, 11-8, 11-8, 11-4.
