Australian Remy Leonard will take on top seed Anders Faugstad in the third round of the men's junior compound competition at the World Archery Youth Championships in Madrid.

Leonard qualified in 33rd place from the qualification round but set up a meeting with the Norwegian tomorrow morning with a 148-142 victory against India's Sangampreet Singh Bisla at Zona Sur University Sports Complex. 

Leonard's compatriot Nathan Rowley booked his place in round three with a 143-141 win against Marcus Arlefur-Wällstedt of Sweden.

Thirteenth seed Roman Efimov of Russia lost a tie-break against Canadian Cole Beres after their match finished level at 143 points apiece.

In the women's junior recurve, Indian Himani won 6-0 against Elodie Kacmareck of France to set up a meeting with top seed from qualifying Jang Min-hee of South Korea.

Russian Ekaterina Biriukova will face Japan's Tomoka Ohashi in round three after they won today's second round matches.

Biriukova won 6-4 against 17th seed Amy Jung of the United States, while Ohashi netted a 6-2 triumph against Zhannah Naumova of Ukraine.

Men's top seed Mete Gazoz of Turkey will take on Luxembourg's Joe Klein after he saw off Japanese rival Ishii Yuta in round two.

Klein cruised to a 6-2 victory to book his third round place.

Gazoz's compatriot Samet Ak edged a close encounter 6-4 against Jagdish Choudhary of India to reach round three.

He will battle Frenchman Maxence Jamot tomorrow after he defeated Jarnot De Smedt of Belgium 6-4.

The event resumes tomorrow.
