China's Zhu Linfeng will face top seed Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan in the first round of the men's singles event at the International Table Tennis Federation Bulgaria Open in Panagyurishte after completing his journey through the preliminary rounds today.

Fresh from two wins yesterday at Arena Asarel, Zhu started today by beating Germany's Qiu Dang 5-11, 9-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 before claiming a walkover victory against France's Can Akkuzu.

Second seed Dimitrij Ovtcharov of Germany, meanwhile, has learned that his first-round opponent will be Japan's Masataka Morizono.

Morizono defeated Romania's Rares Sipos 7-11, 13-11, 11-13, 11-8, 11-4, 7-11, 14-12 in the third preliminary round and then went onto overcome France's Irvin Bertrand 9-11, 12-10, 11-9, 3-11, 11-7, 12-10.

In the first round of the women's singles event, top seed Kasumi Ishikawa of Japan will meet Portugal's Shao Jieni and second-seeded compatriot Mima Ito will go up against South Korea's Shin Yubin.

Shao booked her place in the main draw with an 11-9, 11-4, 11-8, 11-5 win over Czech Republic's Karin Adamkova.

It followed an 11-3, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8, 11-4 victory at the expense of Spain's Zhang Sofia-Xuan.

Shin firstly beat Japan's Maki Shiomi 11-5, 8-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8 prior to defeating Russia's Polina Mikhailova 12-10, 11-7, 12-10, 11-7.
