Hungary twice came from behind to win 26-25 and maintain their perfect record in North Macedonia of three wins from three.

France led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter but the game was tight throughout and was level 13-13 at the break.

Hungary moved ahead in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals between the 44th and 53rd minutes which proved crucial, before a last-gasp interception from Dominik Gal denied the 2017 champions a chance to equalise.

The win means Hungary have qualified for the last 16 from Group B, while France can join them by avoiding defeat against Chinese Taipei in their next match.

Sweden are also through from Group B after beating Canada 38-16, while Egypt are on the verge of progression after seeing off Chinese Taipei 36-25 at Jane Sandanski Arena.

Three teams have qualified from Group A, including Croatia, who have three wins from three after beating Saudi Arabia 36-17.

Spain edged out Slovenia 24-21 to book their knockout place, a result which also sent the Slovenians through after Chile lost 38-23 to Norway.

In Group C, Denmark are the first side into the knockout rounds as they maintained their perfect start by beating Nigeria 35-22.

Hosts North Macedonia boosted their prospects of reaching the last 16 following a tight 27-25 victory over Bahrain, while Japan also picked up a narrow 29-26 win against Argentina.

Portugal are also through after earning their third win in Group D, defeating Iceland 28-24 at Boris Trajkovski Sports Center in Skopje.

Germany are on the verge of the next round after a 30-22 win over Serbia, while Tunisia boosted their own knockout chances with a thrilling 26-25 victory over Brazil.
