December 22 - Dutch nsurance company Univé has been announced as a sponsor of the 2010 IPC Swimming World Championships, which will take place in the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium in Eindhoven next August.



Univé is also a one per cent FairShare partner of Fonds Gehandicaptensport (Dutch Fund for Disability Sports), which means that the insurance company spends one per cent on sports of people with a disability on top of their sports sponsoring budget.

Univé's brand manager Fons Roosenboom said:  "Sport and exercise are important for everybody.

"Sport is a way to unwind and it gives you energy.

"It gives you the chance to go to the limit or to relax.

"We support this fantastic initiative because it allows us to help develop sport facilities for people with a disability.

"Furthermore, it connects well to our involvement with the European Championships Swimming 2008.

"People fraternise through sports, it is healthy and fun pastime.

"Everyone has a right to that, disabled or not."

Eindhoven were chosen to host the event, which will take place between August 15 and 21, ahead of Sheffield and Minneapolis.

The last World Championships took place in 2006 in Durban, South Africa.
 
The event occurs every four years.
