England finished ninth at the International Korfball Federation World Championships after victory over Catalonia in Durban.

Today saw many of the ranking play-off matches take place at the University of KwaZulu Natal University’s Westville Campus prior to tomorrow's final between the Netherlands and Belgium.

The highest ranking match saw England beat Catalonia 18-15 to earn ninth place.

Hosts South Africa finally earned their first victory of the competition as they beat Macau 23-9.

It means South Africa are ranked 19th in the tournament, while Macau conclude having lost all five of their matches.

Ireland finish 16th after they lost 19-18 to Japan.

The Irish lost all three group games but reached the last 16 as they had a better points difference than the other four sides who came bottom of the pools.

The other ranking play-offs saw Poland finish 11th after beating Hungary 21-13, while Slovakia ended 13th after defeating Australia 20-19.
