Summer Youth Olympic Games champion Amirreza Mohammadreza Dehbozorgi has added United World Wrestling Cadet Championship gold to his collection after victory in the 48 kilograms category.

The Iranian had too much for Championships debutant Ziya Babashov, defeating the Azerbaijani wrestler 3-1 at the Armeets Arena in Sofia.

Bronze went to Rupin Rupin of India, who beat South African Riehan Botha, and to Kazakhstan's Yerbol Kamaliyev, who defeated Alibek Amirov from Russia.

Dehbozorgi was the first of two Iranian gold medallists today, with Shahrokh Abouzar Mikaeili triumphant in the 110kg category.

Mikaeili beat Armenia's Razmik Kurdyan 1-0 in a tightly contested bout.

European champion Mate Gokadze had to settle for the bronze medal after losing to Kurdyan in his semi-final, but got on the podium by defeating Poland's Dominik Krawczyk.

The other 110kg bronze went to Adolf Baszo, the Hungarian wrestler winning against Grigorios Kontovounisios of Greece.


Azerbaijan's Nihat Zahid Mammadli went one better than last year in Plovdiv as he claimed World Cadet Wrestling Championships gold.

Mammadli beat Parvin Patil of India 9-0 in the 55kg gold medal final.

Last year's champion, Abror Atabaev of Uzbekistan, shook off the disappointment from losing to Mammadli in the semi-final to earn a bronze medal by beating Turkey's Seyitcan Beytekin, while Tajikistan's Firuz Mirzorajabov took a spot on the podium as he beat Russian Omar Budaev.

In the 65kg category, Dzmitry Bonka of Belarus proved too good for Sheroz Ochilov of Tajikistan, winning 6-2.

Bronze medals went to Hungarian Attila Tamas Toesmagi, who beat India's Neeraj Neeraj, and to Arman Khachikyan of Armenia, who defeated Hojat Hassan Rezaei of Iran.

The 80kg gold was won by Ukrainian wrestler Mykyta Alieksieiev, who dominated Moldova's Gabriel Lupasco on his way to a 12-3 victory.

Vigen Nazaryan of Armenia and Maksat Sailau of Kazakhstan won bronze medals with victories over Iran's Kamran Arghash and Finland's Jonni Sarkkinen respectively.

Tomorrow  is due to see the final day of competition in Bulgaria, with the 45kg, 51kg, 60kg, 71kg and 92kg Greco-Roman wrestling medal bouts.
