Mosaad Aldossary of Saudi Arabia made a strong start to the defence of his FIFA eWorld Cup Grand Final title as he won all five of his group games on the opening day of the event in London.

Aldossary, playing under his gamertag of "Msdossary", conceded eight goals, the lowest of the day, to move top of Group B on the Xbox console at the O2 Arena.

"Rafsou", who lost 6-0 to the Saudi Arabian player on aggregate, occupies second place in the group.

"Momentum is really important at this stage," Aldossary said.

"When I’m unbeaten, it gives me a lot of confidence and that’s what you want at the World Cup."

There was a shock in the group stage on the PlayStation as number one Nicolas99fc was beaten 5-3 on aggregate by bottom seed "Marko".

"MoAuba" of Germany became the first player to reach the PlayStation knockout round as he finished top of Group C.

"I don’t expect that a German will finally win the Grand Final because we have very hard opponents," he said.

"But with a little bit of luck, maybe we can get it."

The tournament, which carries a first prize of $250,000 (£206,000/€226,000), continues tomorrow.
