It marks official confirmation of Banská Bystrica as hosts of the Summer EYOF in two years' time.

The 2021 event was initially due to be held in Košice but the city withdrew in April.

Banská Bystrica stepped in to replace Košice in May.

The contract was penned by EOC President Janez Kocijančič, secretary general Raffaele Pagnozzi, Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee head Anton Siekel and Nosko.

Representatives from the Slovak city, awarded the event in 2017, took part in the handover ceremony during the closing of the 2019 EYOF in Baku.

EOC sports director Peter Brüll and Coordination Commission chairman Joseph Cassar visited Banská Bystrica to inspect preparations for the multi-sport event for athletes aged 14 to 18 earlier this month.

"It is a great honour and pleasure to organise this event but at the same time it is a great responsibility for us because of the short time frame," said Nosko. 

"We know where our weak points are but at the same time we received positive feedback from the first EOC site inspection and we will do our best to prepare a great Games in 2021."

The 2021 Summer EYOF is due to take place from July 24 to August 1.

According to the EOC, the venues for the event will be a mix of existing, newly built and temporary facilities.

"I am pleased that we have found a partner such as the city of Banská Bystrica, with which I am sure we will be able to organise the event at the highest level," Siekel said. 

"For us, not only is it a great responsibility but also an opportunity to introduce the city and the whole region to Europe."
