Dutch teenager Niels Vink has completed a hugely impressive dual triumph at the British Open Wheelchair Tennis Championships after he today added the quad singles title to his doubles victory yesterday.

The unseeded 16-year-old beat top-ranked Andy Lapthorne at Nottingham Tennis Centre in a back-and-forth three-set battle.

With all matches again moved indoors due to heavy rain, Vink overcame the 28-year-old British player 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.

It means world number three Lapthorne has lost five of the past six British Open quad finals, having lost the first quad singles final at Wimbledon to doubles partner Dylan Alcott of Australia earlier this month.

Elsewhere, there was more success for the Netherlands as women's wheelchair top seed Diede de Groot won an all-Dutch final against Marjolein Buis.

De Groot defeated the number four seed 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 to add the singles to the doubles crown she won yesterday.

She also avenged her doubles partner, Aniek van Koot, who was beaten by Buis in the semi-finals.

The men's singles final saw an upset, as number two seed Shingo Kunieda of Japan beat the top-ranked Gustavo Fernández of Argentina in straight sets.

Kunieda won 6-3, 6-4 in 82 minutes.
