Nepal beat Kuwait by seven wickets to set up a winner-takes-all contest with hosts Singapore at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup Asian Regional Finals Qualifier.

Nepal, the highest-ranked side competing at the tournament, chased down 142 to take a step towards booking a place at the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in the United Arab Emirates in October and November.

Opener and captain Paras Khadka led the way for Nepal as he scored 68 to lay the perfect platform for victory at Indian Association Ground.

Sharad Vesawkar also impressed as he hit an unbeaten 38 to get Nepal over the line with 4.1 overs remaining.

The win moved Nepal onto four points, one behind leaders Singapore, while defeat for Kuwait spelled the end of their challenge.

Nepal and Singapore are due to meet tomorrow, with the winner securing a place at the qualifier for the T20 World Cup, which offers six places at next year's global showpiece in Australia.

In the other match held today, Qatar overcame Malaysia by four wickets.
