Hosts Israel will meet defending champions England in the final of the Women’s European Lacrosse Championship on Thursday (July 25) after defeating three-times winners Wales in their semi-final today.

Israel, who finished third, one place below Wales, in the top qualifying group, earned a tight 8-5 win, never headed after taking the first quarter 2-0 at at Tubruq Field in Netanya.

Six-times champions England were pushed by the Czech Republic, who held them to 7-7 at the hallway point.

But England won the next quarter 5-0 and moved away to win 16-10.

They beat Israel 12-3 in their earlier Group A match.

Scotland earned the right to play for fifth place tomorrow as they beat Ireland 10-7, and now due to meet either The Netherlands or Germany.

Ireland will meet the loser in the seventh place match.

In the first of three rounds to determine the 13th placed team, Sweden beat Finland 18-7 and Italy beat Spain 11-3.
