Huang came through 21-16, 11-21, 21-18 to book his place in the quarter-finals of the Super 1000 World Tour competition at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno.

India's fifth seed PV Sindu needed three games to beat Denmark's Mia Blichfeldt, 21-14, 17-21, 21-11.

Home interest was brought to an end as former world champion and seventh seed Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand beat Gregoria Mariska Tunjung 13-21, 21-19, 21-15.

The quarter-finals will be played in Jakarta tomorrow.
