Ireland beat Germany today to secure a ninth-place finish at the International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football World Cup in Seville.

Dillon Sheridan bagged five goals as the Irish prevailed 7-3 at Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios – the training ground of La Liga club Sevilla.

Aaron Tier and Joseph Markey also got their names on the scoresheet, registering one goal each.

Also held today was the 11th-place playoff, which saw Australia defeat Canada 4-2.

Earlier in the day, Japan overcame Thailand 3-2 in the 13th-place playoff and hosts Spain thrashed Finland 9-0 in the 15th-place playoff.

Russia are scheduled to play Ukraine in the final tomorrow.

It will be preceded by the third-place playoff between Brazil and England.

The United States and Iran will contest the fifth-place playoff, while The Netherlands and Argentina will face each other in the seventh-place playoff.
