An San of South Korea eased to a straight sets victory over India's Deepika Kumari to claim the women's recurve gold medal at the archery test event for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The 18-year-old, who arrived in the Japanese capital having won the Archery World Cup in Berlin on her international debut, beat Kumari 6-0 to top the podium at Yumenoshima Archery Field.

It marked the latest triumph for An, considered a rising star in the sport.

She defeated Olympic champion and compatriot Chang Hye-jin in the quarter-finals before overcoming Tan Ya-Ting of Chinese Taipei 7-1 in the last four.

Kumari also recorded impressive wins to reach the final as she edged out Tatiana Andreoli of Italy in a shoot-off in the quarter-finals.

The Indian archer then despatched Zheng Yichai of China 6-0 to book a meeting with An in the gold medal match.

"At this moment, I’m not sure to make the national team for the Olympics next year," said An.

"But I’m happy to have shot here.

"I think there is some pressure on the Korean team [for the Games next year].

"But I will try hard so I can stand in the same place.”

Tan finished on a high as she beat Zheng 7-3 in the bronze medal match.

The event concludes tomorrow with the men's recurve knockout rounds and final.
