The African Karate Championships have concluded in Botswana ©WKF

Egypt and Senegal won the men's and women's team kumite titles on the final day of the African Karate Championships in Gaborone.

The Egyptian men defeated Algeria in their final with individual under-67 kilograms winner Ali Elsaway and over-84kg champion Tarek Taha Mahmoud part of the squad in Botswana's capital.

They were joined by Abdelmonem Elsawy, Magdy Mamdouh Hanafy, Omar Hegazy, Abdalla Mamduh Abdelaziz and Mohamed Ramdan.

Algeria fielded Mouad Achache, Samy Anis Brahimi, Hocine Daikhi, Karim Belghini, Ramzi Haddeche, Yaris Lardjane and Faical Bouakal in their silver medal winning team at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Centre.

Morocco, helped by under-60kg champion Abdessalam Ameknassi and under-75kg gold medallist Yassine Sekouri, shared the bronze medals with Senegal.

Senegal's under-68kg winner Maman Amina Dione helped her country to the women's title as they saw off Tunisia in the final.

She was joined by Maguette Mbaye, Magatte Seck and Mariama Sow.

Over-68kg champion Chahnez Jami was part of a Tunisian trio along with Boutheina Hasnaoui and Aissa Faten.

Algeria and Cameroon shared the bronze medals.
