A week after securing national glory, Smulders added to European crowns earned in 2014, 2017 and 2018.

The London 2012 bronze medallist edged out compatriot Judy Baauw for top spot in Valmiera, while Denmark’s Simone Christensen took third.

Merel Smulders, Laura’s younger sister, was fourth.
