A series of announcements on the 2019 edition of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Premier12 are set to be made in Tokyo later this month.

The WBSC is due to use the press conference in Japan's capital, taking place at Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa on July 22, to reveal details on sponsorships and a special award for the top international baseball competition of the year and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifier.

Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), the highest level of the sport in Japan, will outline the super round ticketing plan and partners, while iconic baseball brand SSK is to unveil the official WBSC Premier12 ball and umpire gear.

Additionally, Japan’s national team manager Atsunori Inaba will speak of his enthusiasm for the global event between baseball's top 12 countries.

The press conference will also mark the first time that the WBSC Premier12 trophy has been displayed in Japan.

For those not in attendance, the press conference will be live streamed for media, fans and viewers around the world on WBSC's own OTT (over the top) platform here and YouTube channel here.

Among those present will be WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari and NPB Commissioner Atsushi Saito.

They will be joined by SSK’s President Kyoichi Sasaki and executive director Koji Yasui.

The second edition of the WBSC Premier12 is scheduled to be held from November 2 to 17, in Chinese Taipei, Japan, Mexico and South Korea.

It will be the first time that the tournament has served as a qualifier for the Olympic Games.
