Among them are pole vaulters Ilya Dolbin and Dmitriy Kachanov, both of whom have been approved for international competitions.

Triple jumper Vladislav Aleksandrin and long jumper Natalya Spiridonova have been approved for the European Athletics Under-20 Championships, due to take place in Swedish city Borås from July 18 to 21, and the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF), scheduled to be held in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku from July 21 to 27.

A total of 26 athletes have been approved for just the European Athletics Under-20 Championships, including combined events athletes Stepan Kekin, Vladena Komarova, Andrey Rodikov, Yulia Sokhatskaya and Ksenia Trubinova, and long jumpers Evgeniy Karavaev, Daria Kushnir, Dmitrii Nikitin and Artem Chermoshanskii.

Others include high jumpers Nadezdha Andryukhina and Evgeniy Ermakov, discus throwers Sergey Demidov and Violetta Ignateva, hammer throwers Anna Korobova and Sergey Zverev, and 800 metres runners Savelli Savlukov and Anastasiia Eremiants.

Completing the list are 100m hurdler Irina Boldyreva, 400m hurdler Valeria Chehovich, 400m runner Nikita Mateev, 1,500m runner Artem Popov, 3,000m steeplechaser Irinia Shipitsyna, sprinter Ruslan Kislykh, long-distance runner Dmitriy Zyuzin, pole vaulter Viktor Pintusov and triple jumper Maria Privalova.

A further seven athletes have been approved solely for the EYOF, including 400m hurdlers Fedor Ivanov, Maria Tarabanskaya and Olga Topolskova, discus throwers Semen Borodaev and Stepan Rukhov, javelin thrower Viktoria Cherviakova and shot putter Daria Shinkevich.

"The participation of all these athletes as neutral athletes in international competition is still subject to formalities for eligibility under IAAF Rules being completed and subject to acceptance of their entries by individual meeting organisers," an IAAF statement reads.

"As this is an ongoing process, the IAAF will only make announcements as and when decisions are made by the Doping Review Board concerning successful applications and those athletes have been informed."

The application process for Russian athletes seeking neutral status in international competitions in 2019 opened in December 2018.

The IAAF Doping Review Board has received 314 applications this year. 

A total of 117 Russian athletes have so far been declared eligible to compete as ANA in 2019.

A total of 40 applications have so far been rejected.

One neutral athlete status, that of sprinter Igor Obraztsov, has been revoked.

It was confirmed in May that Obraztsov had failed an out-of-competition test.

An IAAF ban issued on the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) in November 2015 remains in place due to the country's doping scandal.

Russia has been accused of an institutional scheme of doping and cover-ups which has seen numerous athletes and coaches sanctioned.

The IAAF extended the ban for the 11th time on June 9 following a meeting in Monaco.

This followed claims that the RusAF had aided the forging of paperwork to help Russian world indoor high jump champion Danil Lysenko avoid a drugs ban.

Other reports had also claimed that banned coaches and medical staff were remaining active in athletics.

Russian track and field athletes can only compete if they meet strict criteria and must do so under a neutral banner.

The IAAF Doping Review Board is composed of chair Robert Hersh, Sylvia Barlag and Antti Pihlakoski.
