Belarus beat Egypt in five sets as action began today at the 2019 International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Men’s Challenger Cup in Ljubljana.

Radzivon Miskevich top scored with 27 points as the Belarusians triumphed 21-25, 25-16, 20-25, 26-24, 15-9 in the Pool B tie at the Slovenian capital's Arena Stožice.

They will now face Cuba tomorrow knowing a win will secure first place in the standings.

Later today, Slovenia defeated Chile 25-15, 25-15, 25-19 in Pool A.

Tine Urnaut top scored for Slovenia with 12 points, while Chile's Vicente Parraguirre managed a game-best 13.

A group of six teams are battling for one available spot in next year’s FIVB Nations League.

All teams will play their group opponents once with matches concluding on Friday (July 5).

The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday (July 6) before the final and third-place playoff are held on Sunday (July 7).
