Defending champions Cameroon shared a goalless draw with Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations to ensure they remained top of Group F.

In an uninspiring clash at Ismailia Stadium, the Indomitable Lions had the best chance of the opening half.

With the break looming, Christian Bassagog fired Karl Toko Ekambi’s cutback goalwards but was denied by keeper Richard Ofori.

Ghana enjoyed some good openings in the second period and Owusu Kwabena shot against the top of the bar.

And Cameroon, who had delayed their departure for this tournament over a pay dispute, had stopper André Onana to thank when he smartly denied Andy Yiadom.

Cameroon are due to face Benin in their final group game, while Ghana take on Guinea-Bissau.

Benin and Guinea-Bissau could not be separated tonight at Ismailia Stadium, with 0-0 the final score.

Elsewhere, Mauritania and Angola kept alive their hopes of progress from Group E after a 0-0 stalemate at Suez Stadium in Suez.

It was Mauritania’s first point at an Africa Cup of Nations and it could have been even better had Adama Ba’s shot after the hour not been well-blocked by defender Bruno Gaspar.

Their opponents were guilty of squandering an even better opportunity when substitute Eduardo fired off target from Gelson Dala’s pull-back.

In stoppage time, Angola’s Geraldo had a volleyed effort ruled out for offside.

Angola are third in the group on two points ahead of a clash with leaders Mali, while Mauritania next take on Tunisia.
