Cameroon’s Hubert Noah Essomba and Gregory Tchami-Djomaha beat Nigeria’s Thankgod Adindu and Emmanuel Nwabueze in the final as the teqball demonstration event took place today at the African Beach Games on the island of Sal in Cape Verde.

Essomba and Tchami-Djomaha clinched the African Beach Teqball Cup doubles title with a 20-10 win at Arena 2 in Santa Maria Beach Park.

They had earlier won all three of their Group A matches before defeating Senegal’s Cire Dia and Moussa Dieye 20-16 in the semi-finals.

Dia and Dieye went on to lose the third-place play-off, falling to a 20-14 defeat at the hands of home duo Ekson da Graça and Rodirley Duarte.

Da Graça and Duarte were beaten 20-10 by Adindu and Nwabueze in the other semi-final.

While the tournament did not count towards the overall medal tally, it was an official part of the International Teqball Federation calendar.

Today also saw Juventus and Brazil winger Douglas Costa join former Portugal international Simão Sabrosa, Brazilian teqball player Natalia Guitler and local footballers Ryan Mendes, Fernando "Nando" Maria Neves and Pedro Leitão Brito in an all-stars match.

Action in Sal is due to continue tomorrow with medals being awarded in kiteboarding.
