The Ugandan side cannot finish in the top two despite the win, ending their hopes of continuing their T20 World Cup campaign.

Ghana batted first and scored 113-6 from their 20 overs, setting Uganda a target of 114 for victory.

Riazat Ali Shah led the chase for the hosts, hitting an unbeaten 53 as Uganda knocked off the required runs with more than four overs to spare.

The only team that can catch Namibia and Kenya – first and second, respectively – are Nigeria, who trail both nations by two points.

Nigeria have a slim chance of snatching one of the two qualification spots up for grabs as Namibia and Kenya play each other on the last day of the tournament tomorrow.

A heavy defeat for either side could open the door for Nigeria, who play Uganda in their final match.
