Hosts Mexico triumphed at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Beach Soccer Championship in Puerto Vallarta, beating the United States 6-2 in today’s final.

Two goals each from Ramon Maldonado and Jair Aleman and efforts from Benjamin Mosco and Jose Hernandez saw Mexico through, with the United States goals coming from Nick Perera.

It is the fourth time Mexico have won the CBSC, with previous victories coming in 2008, 2010 and 2015.

Both Mexico and the US have qualified for the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay.

El Salvador finished their campaign with bronze after beating Panama 8-3 in the third-place match, thanks partly to a hat-trick from Francisco Velasquez.

Mexico goalkeeper Diego Villasenor, who registered a clean sheet in the 3-0 semi-final win over Panama and conceded just 12 goals during the tournament, was the winner of the golden glove award.

Nick Perera of the United States took home the Golden Boot for the 13 goals he scored.
