World champion Janja Garnbret will aim for a fifth consecutive victory at the penultimate International Federation of Sport Climbing World Cup in Munich this weekend.

The 20-year-old, who won the bouldering and combined world titles last year, has been in sensational form this season.

Garnbret has a perfect World Cup record heading into the competition in the German city, which begins tomorrow and concludes Sunday (May 19).

A total of 273 athletes have entered the event at the Olympic Stadium.

The Japanese trio of Tomoa Narasaki, silver medallist in Wujiang last week, three-time silver medalist in 2019 Akiyo Noguchi and Miho Nonaka are all set to miss the competition.

Fanny Gibert of France and Austria's Jessica Pilz will be among those hoping to end Garnbret's run of dominance.

The men's event will feature Jakob Schubert of Austria and Slovenian Anze Peharc, both of whom have made bouldering finals this season.

Jernej Kruder of Slovenia and Czech Republic Adam Ondra will be out to make a comeback after they both failed to get past the semi-final stage in China last week.

Qualification is due to be held tomorrow before finals for men and women take place on Sunday (May 19).
