Jetze Plat of the Netherlands was one of the nine individual time trial winners on the opening day of the International Cycling Union Para-cycling Road World Cup in Corridonia in Italy.

The Dutchman clocked a time of 50min 7.21sec in the men’s H4 event to come out on top over the 27.1 kilometres distance.

Austria’s Thomas Fruhwirth finished second in 51:17.60, while Poland’s Rafal Wilk came third in 53:24.15.

There were also victories for Plat’s compatriots Jennette Jansen in the women’s H4 and Carmen Koedood in the women’s H2.

Jansen triumphed in 43:55.80, while Koedood prevailed in 33:25.99.

Another country having multiple wins were hosts Italy courtesy of Ana Maria Vitelaru in the women’s H5 in 44:32.64 and Luisa Pasini in the women’s H1 in 58:48.36.

Today’s other victors were Austria’s Walter Ablinger in the men’s H3 in 37:11.17, Spain’s Sergio Garrote Muñoz in the men’s H2 in 44:06.07, the United States’ Alicia Dana in the women’s H3 in 44:22.73 and Belgium’s Maxime Hordies in the men’s H1 in 35:32.01.

Action in Corridonia is due to continue tomorrow with the individual time trials in the remaining categories.
