Australian Para taekwondo athlete Janine Watson has been granted dAIS funding from the Australian Institute of Sport to assist her preparations for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Watson has received A$11,500 ($80,442/£61,849/€71,864) after her performance at February's World Para Taekwondo Championships in Turkey, where she took gold in the P34 Poomsae.
Australian Taekwondo has nominated Watson for September's Tokyo 2020 taekwondo test event at Makuhari Messe.
The funding will help her prepare for that event and Paralympic qualification.
The dAIS scheme gives athletes nominated by their National Sporting Organisation the chance to receive cash grants from the Australian Government.
Watson is also hoping to compete at Tokyo 2020 in wheelchair tennis and is the second highest-ranked Australian female in the sport.
