Austria’s Felix Großschartner sealed the general classification at the Presidential Tour of Turkey as Australia's Caleb Ewan triumphed on the final stage.

Großschartner took the overall lead yesterday by winning the penultimate stage of the race on a summit finish.

He boasted a 190-second advantage over his nearest challengers, leaving the Bora-Hansgrohe rider needing to avoid accidents to clinch the title in this International Cycling Union WorldTour event. 

The 172 kilometres stage from Sakarya to Istanbul concluded with a sprint finish, as had been predicted before the race.

Ewan proved the fastest finishers on an uphill sprint, the Lotto Soudal rider crossingthe line in 4 hours 10min 41 sec.

The Netherlands’ Fabio Jakobsen ended as the runner-up to Ewan, being awarded the same time.

Ireland’s Sam Bennett placed third at four seconds down on the winner.

Großschartner safely crossed the line to be crowned winner.

He maintained his 19-second lead over Italy’s Valerio Conti, who took second place.

Merhawi Kudus of Eritrea was a further six seconds down in third.
