Van der Heijden was defeated 11-7, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6, by Tomlinson in the first round of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour Gold tournament at the DPD headquarters in Eindhoven. 

"I’m relieved," said Tomlinson.

"Milou had a good win against me in San Francisco a few months ago, so it was good to come out here and get my revenge.

"I tried to increase the pace a bit tonight, she called me out a lot with her boast last time, so I was prepared for that today."

Tomlinson's victory saw her set up a fixture against world number one Raneem El Welily of Egypt, who received a bye into the second round.

It was further misery for the host country when Egypt's Yathreb Adel beat Dutch wild card Tessa ter Sluis 11-3, 11-9, 11-4 in 17 minutes. 

The wildcard in the men's competition, Roshan Bharos of The Netherlands, then lost to Joel Makin of Wales 11-3, 11-4, 11-5.

Makin is now set to face Egypt's Marwan ElShorbagy in the second round.

England's James Wilstrop set up a tie with the top seed in the men's competition, Ali Farag of Egypt. 

Wilstrop had achieved a 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5 victory over Australia's Cameron Pilley that lasted 65 minutes.

The second round is due to be played tomorrow and Thursday (April 11).

The tournament is taking place in the Dutch headquarters of the international parcel delivery service DPD to mark the opening of the building.

A multi-year agreement was signed between DPD Netherlands and PSA last August.
