The 38-fight winning-streak of the teenager was ended by France's world number 15, who in turn recorded her first IJF Grand Prix victory and jumped into the arms of her coach and London 2012 Olympic champion Lucie Décosse.

The first bronze medal contest was won by Brazil's Nathalia Brigida, who defeated Hungary's Éva Csernoviczki.

Mongolia's Urantsetseg Munkhbat triumphed in the second, overcoming France's Blandine Pont.

In the women's under-52kg category, Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist Odette Giuffrida of Italy beat Israel's Gili Cohen to clinch the title.

Both judoka had struck IJF Grand Prix gold on one previous occasion and for both their victories were in Tbilisi.

Giuffrida added to her 2016 win by catching 2014 champion Cohen with ashi-waza as a de-ashi-barai earned a second and match-winning waza-ari.

Brazil's Larissa Pimenta defeated Mongolia's Khorloodoi Bishrelt in the first bronze medal match, while France's Astride Gneto overcame compatriot Faiza Mokdar in the second.

The one other women's final held today came in the under-57kg category and saw Kosovo's Nora Gjakova celebrate her fifth IJF Grand Prix gold medal with a win against Olympic champion Rafaela Silva of Brazil.

Silva was guilty of a bear hug in golden score and was disqualified after receiving her third shido.

France had mixed fortunes in the bronze medal matches with Hélène Receveaux beating Poland's Anna Borowska in the first and Sarah Leonie Cysique losing to The Netherlands' Sanne Verhagen in the second.

In the men's under-60kg category, Georgia's Lukhumi Chkhvimiani won his home IJF Grand Prix for the third year in a row as he defeated France's Walide Khyar in the final.

Tokyo 2020 contender Chkhvimiani showed his superiority on home soil as he overcame the one-time IJF Grand Prix winner by rolling him over for a waza-ari, the only score in the final.

There was also a bronze medal for Georgia thanks to Jaba Papinashvili's win over Ukraine's Artem Lesiuk.

He was joined on the third step of the podium by Uzbekistan's Sharafuddin Lutfillaev, who proved too strong for Mongolia's Boldbaatar Ganbat.

Former world bronze medallist Tal Flicker of Israel was made to grind out a win in the men's under-66kg final as he met a determined IJF World Judo Tour debutant in Georgia's Giorgi Tutashvili.

During the break, Flicker said he had never seen or heard of his fellow finalist and that was because the 20-year-old was appearing on the IJF circuit for the first time in Tbilisi.

A waza-ari for Flicker was the difference between him and the unranked Georgian, coming after four minutes.

Spain's Daniel Perez Roman and Georgia's Bagrati Niniashvili were the bronze medallists courtesy of victories over India's Jasleen Singh Saini and Azerbaijan's Ismayil Ibrahimov respectively.

Competition in Tbilisi is due to continue tomorrow.
