The International Ski Federation (FIS) has announced its newly-elected Athletes’ Commission members after votes were cast at this season’s World Championships.

The Commission comprises 12 members, with a male and female athlete elected from each discipline.

Seven athletes have not sat on the Commission before, including Switzerland’s Alpine skier Daniel Yule. The 26-year-old world and Olympic team champion will serve a two-year term.

Among the other new members are male ski jumper Jermej Damjan from Slovenia, China’s halfpipe snowboarder Jiayu Liu and retired Italian Alpine skier Verena Stuffer.

Damjan finished this year’s World Cup season ranked 46th and was 11th in the normal hill event at the 2019 World Championship in Seefeld.

Liu finished second on last year’s halfpipe World Cup circuit and the 34-year-old Stuffer made 148 World Cup appearances during her career.

Among those re-elected are retired American moguls skier Hannah Kearney, who also sits on the FIS Council as an athlete representative.

Prior to this year’s election, the former Olympic champion sat on the Commission as vice-chair.

Also re-elected were Italian cross-country skier Virginia de Martin Topranin and retired US ski jumper Sarah Hendrickson. Hendrickson won the original Women’s Ski Jumping World Cup title in 2012.

Among those stepping down is snowboard cross athlete Konstantin Schad from Germany, who had been Commission chair.

According to the FIS, election results will be formally confirmed at their next Council meeting in Cavtat-Dubrovnik in Croatia on June 2.
