Having thrashed Palestine 6-0 in their semi-final Japan started where they left off today and took the lead through Masuyaki Komaki.

They then doubled their lead in the 16th minute through Ozu Moreira, who scored his ninth goal of the tournament with a long-range volley.

It looked like the score would stay 2-0 at half time, only for the UAE to get their first goal in the 22nd minute when a strong assist from Waleed Beshr gave Ali Mohammad a chance he would have struggled to miss.

A sudden two minute turnaround was completed when Mohammad scored again in the last minute of the period, this time forcing the ball over the line after a goalmouth scramble.
