The International Festival of Extreme Sports (FISE) will return to Saudi Arabia this week, a year after staging the Kingdom's first major BMX competition.

The FISE Battle of the Champions will take place from tomorrow until March 19 at the Al-Ahsa Oasis.

Al-Ahsa is around 1,000 miles northeast of Jeddah, the site of last year's inaugural BMX event.

This invite-only event features BMX freestyle park and BMX flatland events, as well as parkour.

There are also open amateur competitions throughout the weekend that will give Saudi Arabia-based riders an opportunity to join the fun.

Among the riders taking part will be Daniel Dhers, winner of the BMX freestyle park event at last year's debut championship.

"It was an honour winning the first major BMX event in Saudi Arabia and I will try my hardest to win the second," he said.

The entrants also include Canada's Jean William Provost, who won gold in November's International Cycling Union BMX flatland event which concluded the FISE leg in the Chinese city of Chengdu.
