Tokyo 2020 have announced details of the volleyball test event which will be held in the run-up to the Olympic Games in the Japanese capital.

An event called the 2020 Volleyball International Friendly Games will take place between April 21 and 26 in 2020.

No further details have yet been announced but the Ariake Arena, which will stage the volleyball competition at the Olympics, will be used.

The event will be organised by the Japan Volleyball Association.

Last month, Tokyo 2020 organisers claimed construction at all venues due to be used is on track and will be finished in time for the test event programme.

The Ariake Arena was said to be 51 per cent complete with wheelchair basketball due to be held there during the Paralympics.

Tokyo 2020 have also announced that the sport climbing test event has been pushed back by more than six months.

The Ready Steady Tokyo sport climbing event was due to take place between August 30 and September 1, 2019 at the Aomi Urban Sports Park but it will now be held between March 6 and 8 in 2020.

Test events in sailing and water polo have already been held with both taking place last year.

The next test event on the schedule is the International Modern Pentathlon Union World Cup Final between June 27 and 30.
