World champions Japan edged hosts Britain in today's final to win the Wheelchair Rugby Quad Nations tournament in Leicester.

Britain led 26-25 at the break but the Asian nation battled back to clinch a 53-51 victory at the Morningside Arena.

It completes a perfect tournament for Japan, who won all three of their matches in the round-robin phase to top the pool.

That included a 47-43 victory over Britain yesterday and they again narrowly saw off the home side today.

Japan, who won a surprise World Championship title in Sydney last year by beating hosts and Paralympic gold medallists Australia in the final, are warming up perfectly for their home World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge event.

This will be held in Tokyo in October, alongside the Rugby World Cup which Japan is hosting.

Elsewhere today, France won the bronze medals by beating Canada 52-48.

This was also the same outcome as the round-robin match between the two countries, which the French won 50-46.
