Russia enjoyed two gold medals on the first finals night at the United World Wrestling Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov tournament in Bulgaria.

The country triumphed in both the freestyle 92 kilograms and 70kg at the Arena Monbat in Ruse.

Magomed Kurbanov won the heavier class after defeating Georgia's Irakli Mtsituri 9-5 in the final, coming back from being 3-1 behind after the opening period.

Gold at 70kg was guaranteed as the final was an all-Russian affair, with lias Bekbulatov dominating Anzor Zakuev 10-0.

United States and Kazakhstan also won freestyle classes today at the Ranking Series event.

Alexander Dieringer defeated Omaraskhab Nazhmudinov of Romania 10-0 at 79kg for the American win, as Nurislam Sanayev overcame Sandeep Tomar within 35 seconds at 61kg.

The results mean Russia lead the team standings with 80 points, in front of the US on 65.

Four golds were decided in women's wrestling with India, Sweden, Turkey and Greece topping the podium.

Pooja Dhanda won a round-robin competition for India at 59kg after moving up a weight class.

Her compatriot Sakshi Malik was not so lucky, losing the 65kg final 8-3 to Henna Katarina Johansson of Sweden after upsetting Finland's reigning world champion Petra Olli yesterday.

Buse Tosun won at 72kg, nailing a takedown with just seconds left to beat Ukraine's Alina Berezhna Stadnik Makhynia 6-4.

Maria Prevolaraki of Greece beat Marina Sedneva of Kazakhstan in the 55kg final, coming through 10-0.

India currently head the women's team standings on 45 points, 10 in front of Turkey.

More finals will be contested tomorrow.
