Spain’s Quique Cornejo was the highest scorer of the six riders that came through the last chance qualifiers in the junior men’s wakeboard event at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) World Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate Championships in Buenos Aires. 

Cornejo topped the Group B standings with 71.33 points at the Argentinean capital’s Pampa Cable Park.

The Philippines’ Raphael Trinidad and France’s Theo Balsa both managed scores of 70.00 points in topping Groups A and D respectively.

There was also success for The Netherlands’ Jasper Van Suchtelen van de Haare with 46.00 points in Group C as well as Russia’s Nick Volokhov with 52.67 in Group E and Hungary’s Oliver Orban with 57.67 in Group F.

The last chance qualifiers in the junior women’s wakeboard competition saw Great Britain’s Izzy Goode and The Netherlands’ Iris Van Suchtelen van de Haare advance from the single group of five athletes.

Goode scored 62.67 points, while Van de Haare managed 51.33.

The junior men’s semi-finals are due to take place tomorrow before the men’s and women’s finals are held on Tuesday (February 19).

Tomorrow’s schedule also includes wakeboard finals for boys and girls, veteran and masters women and veteran and masters men.
